From Escalation and Loss of Control to Calm, Confident Parental Authority

Resolving complex teenage behaviour with clarity and confidence
Working discreetly with families across the UK and internationally

In families of this level, behavioural issues are often managed privately and allowed to develop over time.

When they reach a point of escalation, what is required is not ongoing support, but decisive intervention that restores structure, stability, and authority within the home.

Professional Practice
Damon also maintains a separate professional practice through AYP Consulting, reflecting his wider work in psychotherapy, counselling, mediation and supervision.

Background & Perspective

"I did not come through this work purely through theory or academic pathways.

As a young person, I experienced first-hand what it is to struggle within systems that do not always understand behaviour, structure or direction.

That perspective has stayed with me.

Over time, life has placed me on both sides of the family dynamic as a child within it and later as a parent and step-parent navigating it.

This dual perspective informs how I work: with clarity, directness and an understanding of both the young person and the family.

At 40, I returned to education and formal training, building on years of lived experience with structured, professional practice.

For over 26 years, I have worked privately with families facing complex adolescent behavioural situations.

I now work with a small number of families each year, applying my Aligned Authority Method™ a structured approach designed to move families from ongoing conflict and uncertainty to stability, alignment and clear parental authority.

Engagements are limited and offered only where a high level of direct, consultant-led intervention is required."

This work begins where conventional approaches end.

When behaviour becomes entrenched, authority has broken down, and the stability of the home is affected, a structured intervention is required.

Unlike therapy, this is not exploratory or open-ended.

It is directive, outcome-focused work designed to create immediate and observable behavioural change.

This includes:

– Interrupting existing behavioural patterns
– Re-establishing parental authority and control
– Implementing clear structure and non-negotiable boundaries
– Stabilising communication and reducing conflict
– Addressing external influences and risk factors

Most families reach this stage after multiple attempts to resolve the situation through traditional channels.
