When a family is experiencing persistent difficulties involving a young man, the first person asked to find appropriate support is often not the parent themselves.
It may be a Personal Assistant, Family Office, Executive Assistant, Private Client Adviser, Household Manager or trusted professional who is asked to identify someone experienced, discreet and appropriate.
Damon Bachegalup provides private family and male adolescent behavioural consulting for families with young men aged 15–25 experiencing complex behavioural, family and adolescent difficulties.
Engagements are personally assessed and deliberately limited.
The aim is not to provide a directory of options or a generic support service. It is to establish whether Damon’s involvement is appropriate for the circumstances before a private consultation or intervention is offered.
A Private Referral Point for Families
Families may seek support when difficulties at home have become increasingly difficult to manage.
This can include:
Persistent conflict between parents and their son
Loss of parental authority
Defiance and refusal to accept reasonable boundaries
Withdrawal from family life
School, college or educational disengagement
Excessive gaming or screen use
Lack of direction, motivation or responsibility
Breakdown in communication

The circumstances of every family are different.
Damon therefore does not begin with a standard programme. The initial process is designed to establish what is happening, what has already been attempted and whether his particular form of behavioural and family intervention is appropriate.

Damon understands that a referral may be made on behalf of a family member.
You may be seeking information before approaching the family directly, coordinating support at the family's request, or looking for a specialist who can work privately with a young man and his family.
Initial enquiries can therefore be handled discreetly and professionally.
The process can begin with a brief outline of:
The young man's age
The nature of the difficulties
The family's location
What has already been tried
What the family is hoping to change
Who is making the enquiry
There is no requirement to provide a lengthy history at the first point of contact.
A Personally Reviewed Referral Process
Every enquiry is personally reviewed.
Where the circumstances appear potentially appropriate, the next step may be a private consultation with Damon.
The consultation provides an opportunity to understand the family circumstances in greater depth, consider the behavioural and relational issues involved, and determine whether further intervention is appropriate.
A consultation does not automatically lead to an intervention.
If Damon considers that another professional, service or form of support would be more appropriate, this will be explained.
This approach allows PAs, family offices and families to establish suitability before committing to a longer engagement.
Three Forms of Private Intervention
Where intervention is appropriate, Damon currently works with families through three principal routes.
Online Family Intervention
A structured four-week intervention involving the family and young man.
This can be appropriate where the family requires focused professional involvement while remaining within their normal home environment.
The work considers the young man's behaviour alongside the wider family dynamic, communication, boundaries, expectations and relationships.

1:1 Male Residential Intervention
A private, individually delivered residential intervention for a young man in the UK or Spain.
This provides a more intensive environment away from the family's usual circumstances, allowing Damon to work directly with the young man while developing a clearer understanding of the behavioural patterns and issues involved.
The residential model is individual rather than group-based.

Private In-Home Intervention
For a small number of families, Damon may undertake a private intervention within the family home.
These engagements are particularly limited and may involve several days of direct work with the family and young man.
UK and international enquiries can be considered where circumstances and availability allow.
Travel, accommodation and associated expenses are considered separately.
Discretion and Confidentiality
Private family matters require discretion.
Damon's practice is deliberately small, allowing enquiries and engagements to be handled personally rather than passed through a large organisation or support team.
Information provided during the enquiry process is treated as confidential, subject to the normal professional and legal limitations that apply to any private professional engagement.
For families who value privacy, the deliberately limited nature of the practice also means that Damon works with a small number of families at any one time.
For Families Who Have Already Tried Other Approaches
A referral may arise after a family has already attempted several forms of support.
Parents may have sought counselling, therapy, educational support, mentoring or other professional assistance without achieving the change they were hoping for.
Damon's work is different in that it focuses specifically on the relationship between behaviour, family dynamics, parental authority, communication, expectations and practical change.
The purpose is not to repeat interventions that have already proved unsuccessful.
The first task is to understand why the current situation has developed and what may need to change within the family system as well as within the young man's behaviour.
A Deliberately Limited Practice
Damon maintains a deliberately limited practice.
This is intentional.
The work is personally delivered rather than designed around a high-volume service model. Every enquiry is considered individually, and availability is restricted.
Not every enquiry will result in a consultation.
Not every consultation will result in an intervention.
This ensures that families entering the process are doing so because there appears to be a genuine basis for Damon to become involved.

Where an enquiry is made on behalf of someone else, the appropriate permissions and arrangements can be discussed before any substantive information is shared.
UK & International Families
Damon is based in the UK and considers enquiries from families in the UK and internationally.
Depending on the circumstances, work may be delivered online, through a private residential intervention in the UK or Spain, or through a limited in-home engagement.
International enquiries are considered individually.
Location, travel requirements, family circumstances and the nature of the intervention will all be discussed before any commitment is made.
What Happens After an Enquiry?
The process is intentionally straightforward.
1. Initial Enquiry
A PA, family office, parent or authorised representative provides a brief outline of the circumstances.
2. Private Review
Damon personally reviews the information to determine whether the circumstances appear appropriate for his involvement.
3. Private Consultation
Where appropriate, a paid private consultation can be arranged.
This provides the opportunity to explore the situation in considerably greater depth.
4. Recommendation
Following the consultation, Damon will explain whether he believes further intervention is appropriate and, if so, which form of engagement may be suitable.
There is no obligation to proceed.
When This Work May Not Be Appropriate
Damon's work is not intended to replace emergency services, acute mental health services, medical treatment or specialist diagnostic services.
It may also not be appropriate for families seeking:
Occasional general parenting advice
Minimal involvement
Low-intensity support
Passive guidance
A guaranteed outcome
A diagnostic assessment or medical treatment
Where another form of professional intervention is more appropriate, this should be established before proceeding.
